A dog owner has left many TikTok users in tears after revealing his dog’s heartbreaking reaction when he was put in a car for the first time.
In a now-viral video, the owner explains that he has “never spent a day apart” from a German shepherd named Zeus, and that it’s good for Zeus to learn some separation. He said he thought about it. In February, Zeus’ owners decided to take him to a kennel for a day to “learn how to ride,” but they didn’t expect Zeus’ terrible reaction afterwards.
“When we got in the car, Zeus collapsed in my arms and just cried. My heart just broke for him,” Zeus’ owner wrote on TikTok.
The video, which shows Zeus huddled with his owner and asking for lots of affection, has already been viewed more than 207,600 times and received more than 12,700 likes in just a few days. , hurt the hearts of many people online.
Thankfully for Zeus, all he needed after such an ordeal in the kennel was to be reunited with his beloved human. His owner said that as soon as he returned, “I could see the stress release from his body.”
Later footage shows him relaxing in the comfort of his home, demanding plenty of attention from his owner. A German Shepherd like Zeus may be big and powerful, but he’s also incredibly soft and affectionate.
Many dogs experience separation anxiety because they show stress from the moment their owners leave until they finally return. Signs that dogs show vary, but typically include pacing, barking, shaking, excessive barking, destructive behavior, panting, drooling, and accidents around the house. The American Kennel Club (AKC) also suggests that some dogs may try desperately to escape and may be injured in some situations.
It’s not always clear why dogs experience separation anxiety, but it’s thought that traumatic events such as being left behind, a death in the family, or relocation can make dogs more nervous about being alone. . It is also thought that dogs who have never been left alone before will suffer more when separation eventually occurs.
However, there are ways to improve the situation, and the AKC recommends that owners crate train their dogs, give them plenty of exercise, discourage clingy behavior, and create positive associations that will make the dog feel more comfortable. We encourage dogs to desensitize their senses. By leaving it on for a short time and gradually increasing its length, you can condition it and avoid stressing it immediately.

How did TikTok react?
Ever since Zeus’ video went viral on social media, many TikTok users were heartbroken by his reaction. Many people have given owners suggestions on how to make things easier for their puppies.
Among the 620 comments on the post, some suggested using a dog sitter instead of overnight stays, while others joked that you should never go on vacation without your four-legged friend.
One comment said, “If you can find a facility that also offers dog daycare, try that first to make your dog feel safe. I’ve done it with my heeler mix, mainly to socialize her. It was to become a reality.”
Another said: “Poor baby. You must be worried that he’s going to do something that will get him taken to that place again. My heart breaks for him. It was so hard for you too after that.” “Deaf,” he wrote.
A fellow dog owner responded, “I can never bring my dog on board. I was worried that people would think I had abandoned my dog, so I didn’t have a great time.”
