Hello everyone.

Without further ado, I have a few thoughts I’d like to share.

First, if you’re a frequent visitor to IoT Evolution World (or any of our sister sites like Industrial IoT News, Smart City Sentinel, MSP Today, Cloud Computing Magazine, or TechZone360, to name a few), thank you for continuing to browse. Yes. Our story! From major industry mic drop moments to niche news that other media outlets miss, we appreciate you taking the time to cover us.

Second, if you’re a new reader (or if you’ve only been here once or twice in the past), your time is truly respected as well. The content grind everywhere online in 2024 is a huge sprawl of continuous headlines, exciting engagements, questions, and follow-ups. Thank you for taking the time to read this article (or any other news article) once or twice. Considering the times we live in, we don’t need a special occasion to maintain an attitude of gratitude.

Third – and this is the most relevant to today’s story – there are a number of company names that we dedicate our coverage to as regular updates unfold. These include (but are not limited to) 1NCE, Five9, Soracom, Morse Micro, 8×8, Quectel, as well as NVIDIA, Microsoft, IBM, and other global giants. Two additional names of his worth including are Digi International and Telit Cinterion, especially with the recent surge in news of each.

If you’re familiar, great.

For those who are not familiar with them, I will briefly explain the background of each.

Digi International is a pioneer in wireless solutions across a wide variety of IoT applications. Before the Internet of Things became mainstream, Digi built a variety of his M2M devices. Then, as the company continued to evolve and adapt to similarly evolving networks and industry standards, Digi pursued rigorous optimization of data communications around a myriad of advanced protocols and emerging technologies. (Example: RF modems to gateways, cellular routers, networking devices, embedded SOMs, SBCs, etc.) Fast forward to 2024 and Digi will be able to offer even more.

Telit Cinterion is a well-known provider of enterprise-grade IoT products and software. Securing and streamlining hyperconnected solutions created to improve consumers’ lives and redefine IoT business operations is our MO, and Telit Cinterion has been a strong advocate of this. The company’s support for manufacturers and operators maintaining a unique IoT ecosystem has increased significantly, with actionable intelligence provided to users to help them navigate this smart and expanding future of “things.” A smarter system will run.

So Digi International on the one hand and Telit Cinterion on the other. Don’t you think our hands should be tied, so to speak?

(I’m going into quite a bit of detail here, but you can see where this is going.)

Digi International and Telit Cinterion have officially expanded their ongoing team-up after starting their efforts together last year.

The breakdown is as follows:

This recent build-on announcement comes as Telit Cinterion’s 5G RedCap M.2 card FN920C04 is officially integrated into Digi International’s IX20 industrial routers and EX15 enterprise routers. Both parties see this as a “historic combination” that reflects their shared commitment to the evolution of IoT and 5G technologies to support future-proof customer networks.

5G RedCap (or “capacity reduction”) is an enabler of the foundation of IoT and 5G solutions. Especially when directed towards use cases where there are concerns regarding rugged areas, cost reduction needs, low battery devices, lower bandwidth requirements, etc. It also addresses the unique demands of medium-speed IoT applications in the era of 5G standalone (5G SA) networks. ; 5G Redcap focuses on smoothing migration and improving deployment, improving quality of service, uplink data rates and power efficiency, reducing latency, and enhancing security to improve device lifecycle and Guaranteed longevity.

Consider, for example, how Digi’s IX20 is equipped with field-replaceable Digi CORE plug-in modems, making it easy for customers to deploy and migrate to 5G Redcap. and That’s even more important when you consider how Telit Cinterion’s FE910C04 LGA module and FN920C04 M.2 card provide a smooth transition from 4G LTE to Redcap.

This extra leg for the Digi-Telit team-up makes perfect sense.

Flexibility. Seamless. A future-proof investment. These are all words that come up when discussing this movement.

“This collaboration represents a remarkable achievement in the evolution of 5G medium-speed industrial connectivity,” said Harald Remmert, CTO of Managed Solutions at Digi International. “Integrating Telit Cinterion’s 5G RedCap module into our routers demonstrates our commitment to providing industry-leading, future-proof solutions for IoT applications.”

Manish Watwani, Chief Marketing and Product Officer, Telit Cinterion said: “His integration of 5G RedCap technology into Digi International’s routers reflects our commitment to providing cutting-edge, high-performance connectivity for the evolving needs of IoT environments.”

Additional coverage of both Digi International and Telit Cinterion developments is likely throughout 2024. In the meantime, we’ll continue to cover “all things IoT” as much as we can.
