Personal information of Ukrainian refugees and the families providing them housing has been published online in a serious data breach, the council has confirmed.

Local authorities said they would contact those affected “to inform them of the violation, apologize and offer assistance.”
The company said access to the data has now been disabled and the breach has been reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Angus Council confirmed the breach was “serious” and said it may hand over the investigation to Police Scotland where appropriate.
“Personal data from Angus Council’s online inspection system was made public through posts in two private Facebook groups themed around Ukrainian holmes,” the council said in a statement.
“The city council disabled the link as soon as they became aware of the leak.”
The company said it was still “unclear” how the intrusion happened.
It added: “Details are still being investigated but the exposed data appears to have included personal information of Ukrainian prospective guests and a host based in Angus.”
“The data was stored in a system, not in a file, so it couldn’t be exported digitally, but it could still be copied.”
