Sensor Tower acquires data.ai, formerly App Annie

Sensor Tower, a US-based mobile app market intelligence and insight provider, announced the acquisition of data.ai, a mobile marketing company formerly known as App Annie. Terms were not disclosed.
Sensor Tower, which provides data on the global digital economy to brands, agencies, game publishers and investors, says the acquisition expands its customer base, mobile marketing and app intelligence products, and expands its geographic footprint. . The move comes three years after it acquired Pathmatics, an advertising intelligence company based in Santa Monica, California.
San Francisco-based App Annie was founded in 2010 and boasted a user base of more than 1 million app developers at the time of its name change two years ago. The company tracked the app’s evolving ecosystem, including downloads, revenue, retention, and usage, through a product called Store Intelligence. analyzes app user demographics and sentiment through a service called Audience Intelligence, and has a dedicated research and analytics department. Sensor Tower CEO Oliver Yeh said the acquisition marks “the beginning of a new and exciting chapter, not just for Sensor Tower, but for the entire digital marketing and mobile app intelligence industry.”
