At San Diego Comic-Con, connectivity is key – specifically, connection to the wealth of information about the convention online and on social media. Luckily, Cox Communications is planning to enhance the experience for attendees at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con by providing free WiFi hotspots throughout Downtown San Diego.
Starting Tuesday, July 23 through Monday, July 29, in partnership with the City of San Diego’s SD Access 4 All program, Cox will open up access to hotspots in bustling areas including the Gaslamp District, East Village and Little Italy. The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure continued connectivity at one of the city’s flagship events, helping more than 135,000 attendees stay connected as they share experiences online, navigate the city and connect with the outside world.
The free WiFi access is not only a benefit to locals and Comic-Con-goers, but also aligns with Cox’s ongoing commitment to providing enhanced digital services: Regular Cox Internet and Cox Mobile customers already enjoy free access to a nationwide network of 4 million hotspot locations, including thousands in San Diego County.
This special measure for San Diego Comic-Con week further extends Cox’s hospitality to both tourists and residents and allows for seamless internet access amid high convention demand.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria praised the initiative, highlighting the globally recognized event’s role in supporting the city’s hospitality efforts and enhancing the visitor experience. “Comic-Con puts San Diego on the world stage, drawing people from all over the world to our beautiful city,” said San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. “By providing free access to Wi-Fi hotspots downtown during Comic-Con, Cox Communications is enhancing the visitor experience and showcasing its commitment to hospitality. This partnership helps make one of our city’s most iconic events even more enjoyable for everyone downtown.”
