New Delhi [India]August 24 (ANI): Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia along with Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Penmasani on Friday chaired the second meeting of the recently constituted Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) on Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
According to the Ministry of Communications, this initiative by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) aims to engage all stakeholders in shaping and expanding India’s telecom ecosystem and promote inclusive and collaborative policy making.

The first SAC meeting on TSP identified key focus areas: The session focused on international standards, India’s role in intellectual property and Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), connectivity gaps and quality of telecom services.
SAC members stressed the importance of aligning research to “Indian needs” and establishing a dynamic standards community. India has already launched initiatives such as the Bharat6G Vision and Bharat6G Alliance, supported patent and IPR frameworks, and commissioned testbeds, and is in a position to aspire to 10% of global 6G patents and significant contributions to international standards. The SAC proposed a three-year roadmap to achieve these goals.
SAC stressed that for India to emerge as a leader in Deep Tech, it is important to strengthen broadband networks, both wired and intelligent wireless, to ensure reliable connectivity.
The TSP called for a supportive policy environment that encourages investment towards achieving 100 percent broadband coverage across the country. Various factors affecting the quality of telecommunication services and potential remedial measures were also discussed.
Minister Scindia asked the SAC members to outline the key steps to achieve the discussed goals and define the roles of various stakeholders, including the government. He also encouraged the TSPs to take all necessary steps to ensure quality telecommunication services to the people.
Minister Scindia has set up six separate Stakeholder Advisory Committees (SACs) to provide valuable insights to the DoT on various issues related to the telecom sector.
These committees aim to facilitate ongoing dialogue between the government and industry leaders, top CEOs, academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and start-ups to ensure continuous exchange of ideas and strategies to develop the sector. (ANI)
