Aiken, SC (WJBF)- The city of Aiken is reviewing its marketing and traffic data in an effort to attract more people to the area. This is the story of Nikita Dennis.
Aiken leaders are working to improve bicycle and pedestrian transportation by conducting a data review of the current walking and biking patterns of the community.
As you iterate and make changes, you’ll see how you can improve your traffic. “Because part of the reason someone doesn’t walk on a sidewalk or walk in an area is because they may not have the equipment to do it,” said transportation consultant Jennifer Beal. states.
At Monday’s Aiken City Council work session, council members heard from the city’s traffic engineer.
Data research shows that the highest pedestrian routes are near Rutland Drive and Whiskey Road, and the highest bicycle routes are Bank Mills Road and Whiskey Road.
“We still have strong bike data here in the north area of town. When you balance that and apply it to the capital line, this was the capital priority area for the north area,” Beal said.
The city is also working to build tourism with its “Visit Aiken” campaign. Aiken partnered with a marketing firm to analyze brand strategy and content development in the region. Marketing experts say this will help attract more visitors and projects.
“Our mission as a company is to help community leaders create more vibrant places to live, work and play. We are from Boone, and we do this in many places. ” said a representative from Destination By Design.
