Thor star Chris Hemsworth has apparently decided to swap out Mjolnir and Stormbreaker for drumsticks after surprising fans by playing the drums at Ed Sheeran’s concert in Bucharest, Romania.
In a video shared by Sheeran, the Grammy Award winner can be seen revealing the drummer at the concert. “He’s been playing with us onstage the whole time. Can you play some sounds for Chris Hemsworth?” Sheeran says in the video.
Hemsworth took the stage with Ed Sheeran at Bucharest’s National Stadium on Saturday night. Rolling StoneThe actor was filming an episode for the upcoming second season of the National Geographic/Disney+ series “Limitless with Chris Hemsworth,” in which he played drums on Sheeran’s iconic song “Thinking Out Loud.”
“Basically what happened is Chris emailed me last December and said he was making a documentary about cognitive health and the benefits of learning an instrument. He came to see me, he learned to play the drums, and now I’m on stage in front of 70,000 people,” Sheeran said backstage.

The video was a huge hit on the internet and sent fans into a frenzy, with one fan commenting, “Smashing it! So proud of you,” while another commented, “I don’t think Chris needed anything else to make him even more likable. Perfect.”
“When he’s not busy saving the world with the Avengers, Thor plays as Ed Sheeran’s drummer lol,” responded a third fan. “Amazing. Choosing Bucharest for this location was symbolic. Thanks for the surprise!” another wrote.
After the concert, Sheeran told Hemsworth “great job” and presented him with a “participation award.”
