CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — An AT&T outage has knocked out internet for several customers, with some saying the problem is more widespread.
“On Monday, we had no internet and one of our TVs died, but it usually gets reconnected quickly,” explained Colleen Durbin Caponigro, an AT&T customer who experienced the outage.
“Then I got a message saying it would be back on air on Monday night at 9pm. It was back on air on Monday night at 9pm and then it was changed to Tuesday at 2pm.”
“Then at 2pm on Tuesday it changed to 9pm on Tuesday. Then at 9pm on Tuesday it said 24 hours,” she continued. “When I spoke to someone and asked them what the situation was time-wise they said they had no idea.”

Caponigro told News 4 that not having internet is a much bigger problem than some people think.
“I have a 94-year-old mother who lives with me. She’s my mom and I rely on Life Alert for her. If I can’t be with her, and there’s no internet, Life Alert doesn’t work,” she said.
The uncertainty has led her family to decide to change providers, and on Saturday, she said she and her family officially canceled their plan with AT&T.
The president of Charleston’s Communications Workers Union Local 3704 told News 4 on Friday that employees who can help fix the outages are striking.
