Eligible beneficiaries must submit a valid claim by November 18, 2024, to receive settlement funds.
The deadline for exclusions and objections is November 1, 2024.
More settlement money to be paid
Meanwhile, Americans are benefiting from LensCrafters’ $39 million settlement.
The settlement will provide payments directly to consumers who claim they were victims of false advertising.
The lawsuit alleges that LensCrafters made misleading statements about its AccuFit digital system.
What is a class action settlement?

Class action lawsuits give a group of people, or a “class,” a way to band together in court.
These lawsuits are often brought by one or a few individuals who allege that a company or other entity has wronged a large number of people.
When a lawsuit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members” – people who may have similar grievances as those filing the lawsuit.
Companies often settle class action lawsuits by offering to pay money to class members, who typically waive their rights to further legal action in exchange for accepting the money.
These payment agreements often include statements in which the defendants deny any wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class action lawsuits to avoid further litigation costs.
Contamination, discrimination, and false advertising are some examples that could result in a class action lawsuit against a company.
LensCrafters said its system is accurate “to within one-tenth of a millimeter,” making it five times more accurate than other systems.
But the plaintiffs argued that the retailers never updated their manufacturing processes to make the glasses to the 0.1 millimeter specifications.
The company denied the charges but agreed to pay a multimillion-dollar settlement to resolve the lawsuits.
The final approval hearing was held on February 26, but the court is yet to issue a final approval order.
According to the settlement website, consumers have 30 days to file claims after the final approval order is issued.
Affected customers should have received notice from Kroll Settlement Administration LLC via email or mail.
The subject of the email was “Ariza v. Luxottica Retail.”
EssilorLuxottica is a company that manufactures lenses and owns an extensive portfolio of eyewear brands sold on LensCrafters.
