As part of NTT Com Asia’s efforts to accelerate Hong Kong’s smart city evolution, the company has unveiled “DOCOMO 5G DX Square”, Hong Kong’s first innovation lab powered by a local private 5G network. This groundbreaking initiative will provide local innovators with a high-performance sandbox to co-develop cutting-edge AI, edge computing and private 5G applications, ushering in a new era of technology possibilities.
The lab is a vibrant hub where startups, enterprises, academic institutions and local vendors can come together to rapidly prototype and test ideas. Built on the latest mmWave standalone technology, NTT’s robust private 5G network will deliver the ultra-low latency, high bandwidth and massive connectivity needed to realize the full potential of next-generation applications.
“The opening of DOCOMO 5G DX Square will accelerate the adoption of 5G in Hong Kong, inspire entirely new industries and possibilities, and cement Hong Kong’s position as a leading technology and innovation hub in the region,” said Steven Tsang, chief revenue officer of NTT Com Asia.
Unlike public 5G networks, NTT’s private 5G network offers dedicated, highly secure and customizable connectivity solutions tailored to the unique demands of smart city use cases, enabling the development of ready-to-deploy IoT solutions across a range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, healthcare and transportation.
Beyond infrastructure, DOCOMO 5G DX Square will provide innovators with access to valuable resources, expertise and partnership opportunities. Innovators will be able to leverage NTT’s vast commercial knowledge, learn from successful business cases and receive direct feedback from potential customers, significantly accelerating time to market.
“P5G is a game-changer for enterprises. Combined with our cutting-edge technologies, P5G emerges as a core connectivity enabler that can drive advancements in smart city applications and drive innovation and efficiency to unprecedented levels,” said Phil McManus, director of business innovation at NTT Com Asia.
NTT’s bold move is in line with the fast-growing global private 5G market, which Grand View Research predicts will reach a staggering US$36 billion by 2030. By providing Hong Kong innovators with the tools and support they need to succeed, NTT will drive technological advancements and cement Hong Kong’s position as a global innovation powerhouse.
The launch of docomo 5G DX Square marks a new chapter in Hong Kong’s smart city vision. With a powerful combination of cutting-edge technology, a collaborative ecosystem and strategic support, NTT is paving the way for a future where innovation knows no bounds.
