The size of 5G in the aviation market The 5G in aviation market is expected to exceed USD 844.9 million in 2023, registering a CAGR of over 45% between 2024 and 2032. Passengers increasingly expect high-speed internet connectivity to stay connected, work, and stay entertained during their flights. 5G technology offers significantly faster data speeds and lower latency compared to previous generations, improving the in-flight connectivity experience and driving demand for 5G-enabled services. For example, in October 2022, Banyan Air Services began equipping its aircraft with Gogo’s upcoming 5G service for business jets in the southeastern United States. Airlines are…

In the early 2010s, LightSquared, a multibillion-dollar startup that promised to revolutionize mobile phone communications, declared bankruptcy after it couldn’t figure out how to prevent its signals from interfering with those of the GPS system. Now, engineers at the University of Pennsylvania have developed a new tool that could prevent such problems from happening again: a tunable filter that can effectively block interference even at the higher frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum. “The hope is that this will enable the next generation of wireless communications,” says Troy Olson, an associate professor of electrical systems engineering (ESE) at the Pennsylvania Institute…
Fans of the Mini-ITX form factor have plenty of options to choose from with multiple platforms and chipset options ranging from entry level to high-end. ITX has replaced Micro ATX as the preeminent small form factor.ITX replaced Micro ATX as the preeminent small form factor.I’m a big fan of Mini-ITX and recently had the chance to test out a couple of mini motherboards, first the ASRock Z790I Lightning and then the MSI MPG B650I Edge WiFi. As the name suggests, this is an AMD B650 board that aims to balance affordability with a decent feature set.We love the look of…

The agency wants a U.S.-owned, cloud-based communications network built on 5G technology for voice, data, video and information services. The network supports national security and emergency preparedness users, referred to by the acronym NS/EP.CISA has four mission requirements: Priority Audio Priority Data Preferred Video NS/EP mission…
6G Global Summit, Live from LondonMark Henry, BT Group Director of Network Strategy and SpectrumPhoto on the left) lamented the race to roll out 5G and questioned the investment case for 6G in a session where the Republic of Ireland regulator accused vendors of overpromising about the new technology. Speaking at a panel session, Henry said non-standalone 5G was a “mistake” and essentially “delayed” the arrival of fully standalone by five years. “That was a bad deal and they should never do that again.” But he added that non-standalone 5G was still a success. “The business case for 5G is…
