Last week at the Private Networks Global Forum there was an excellent session with Arvin Singh, head of global 5G solutions engineering at Verizon and part of the US carrier’s private 5G global go-to-market team. Singh was speaking with Bruno Thomas, chief technology officer at the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), ostensibly talking about the concept of neutral hosted networks as the “killer app” for private 5G. Eventually the conversation got more wide-ranging, discussing the role of cellular in the enterprise more broadly, with some touching on the neutral hosted model here and there. Here’s a summary of the key takeaways:…
Satellite operator Satellite aims to deploy the first Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation with 5G standards for the Internet of Things (IoT) and 100% Earth coverage, and is set to enter the commercialization phase of its 5G-IoT constellation with the launch of four satellites on SpaceX’s Transporter-11 mission. The launch is scheduled for July, with the satellite launching aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The four CubeSat 6U satellites that Satelliot will launch in July 2024 will each have an investment of 500 million euros. They will measure 20 x 10 x 35 centimeters…
Achieving outdoor coverage for connected cars in the 300GHz band June 4, 2024SoftBank Corp. SoftBank Corp. (hereinafter, SoftBank) announced that it has successfully demonstrated outdoor coverage of Beyond 5G/6G terahertz band for connected cars using its proprietary antenna technology. Due to its characteristics, terahertz communication has been assumed to be used only for FWA (fixed wireless access) and NFC (near field communication), but this demonstration experiment confirmed the reliability of terahertz band communication for use in connected cars. Field testing to verify terahertz communication coverage Reasons for using terahertz communication In recent years, amid growing demand for faster and larger…
Bath and North East Somerset Council is set to install a number of 5G antennas in Bath city centre, despite fighting to prevent them being installed on the outskirts of the city four years ago. 5G Transmitter | Library Images A total of 16 5G antennas will be installed across various parts of the city centre as part of an 18-month trial by the local government. A few hundred volunteers will be given special SIM cards to test the network, and if the experiment is successful, it will be made available to the public next spring. 5G mobile networks are…
The new router features Smart AiMesh with multi-link operation, dedicated gaming network and automatic frequency adjustment. · It offers tri-band WiFi 7 speeds of up to 19 Gbps and wired capacity of up to 31 Gbps, including dual 10 Gbps and four 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports. · For the best experience, a gaming network consolidates all gaming functions into one SSID so gamers don’t have to configure each device individually. · Smart AiMesh leverages WiFi 7 multi-link operation to enable automatic WiFi band selection for a stable mesh network and smooth streaming and gaming. · Cutting edge features such as…
The government announced last year that Malaysia would move to a dual 5G network. Malaysian telecom operators involved in the rollout of a dual-network 5G model in the country are set to sign an agreement to acquire a stake in state-run 5G network Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), a local newspaper reported, citing Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. “The telcos have until June 21 to complete their share subscription agreements for DNB shares and are generally ready to sign,” the minister said, adding that he was optimistic they could begin the formal process of forming the second network in Malaysia after…
CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – An associate professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is leading an international team of researchers on a project to integrate AI with sixth-generation (6G) wireless.According to SIU, Gayan Alma Baduge is working on a three-year project with researchers from SIU, Villanova University in the US and Aalto University in Finland.According to SIU, Baju’s work focuses on developing the theoretical foundations of the technology and designing radio systems capable of integrating mobile communications with environmental imaging and sensing in future wireless systems. “6G wireless systems, which integrate sensing…

“We’ve brought together everything that an enterprise needs to deploy a private cellular network. And we’ve made it much simpler so that network administrators can easily deploy it. And we’re taking a big step to integrate this into HP Aruba Networking Central, because our customers have asked us to be able to manage both their Wi-Fi and their private 5G and their wired networks in one place. This will enable access to IoT data, this will enable access to AI inference and everything at the edge,” said Gail Levin, head of wireless product marketing at HPE. Hewlett Packard Enterprise on…
