June 25, 2024 – The Telecommunications Industry Solutions Coalition on Tuesday released a report detailing the Next G Alliance’s spectrum requirements for 6G, highlighting scenario-specific key performance indicators and application-specific technical needs.
The ATIS Next G Alliance is an effort to advance wireless technology in the United States. According to a recently released report: 6G frequency band needsEstablishing a comprehensive 6G development roadmap prioritizes the methodology of data rate requirements, especially in the North American context.
Managing Director, Next G Alliance David Young In a press release, he emphasized the importance of understanding 6G spectrum needs to maintain U.S. leadership in critical and emerging technologies. He stressed the need for these requirements to influence data-driven policies, regulatory decisions, and the development of technological solutions.
“Spectrum is the foundation for all commercial mobile broadband,” Andrew Thiessen“Countries face obstacles to achieving universal connectivity because they don’t have enough spectrum,” said John Myers, chair of the Next G Alliance Spectrum Working Group, emphasizing that the publication provides an early, comprehensive assessment of the spectrum that will be needed as 6G development gathers momentum.
Working with more than 100 leading organizations and leveraging the expertise of up to 1,000 experts from industry, academia and government, the Next G Alliance aims to further North American leadership in wireless technology over the next decade.
