Keeping in mind the changing nature of the field, the Indian Army has formed an elite force to research and evaluate military applications of future communication technologies such as 6G, artificial intelligence, machine learning and quantum computing.
Officials said the Signals Technology Evaluation and Adaptation Group (STEAG) is mandated to foster technology across the full spectrum of wired and wireless systems.
The establishment of STEAG is part of the Army’s efforts to develop technology for future battlefields.
“By fostering collaboration with academia and industry, this project will have the ability to leverage niche technologies, leverage cutting-edge solutions, and identify suitable cases for defense applications,” one of the sources said. “This will be the first and best organization of its kind.”
