LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Biden-Harris administration announced that Arkansas will receive $10,161,429.01 to help improve access to high-speed internet across the state.
This funding is provided by the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) as part of the “Internet for All” initiative.
“President Biden is committed to ensuring everyone in Arkansas and across the country has access to affordable, reliable, high-speed internet service,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “The Department of Commerce’s efforts to build high-speed internet infrastructure are only part of the equation.Arkansas families need the tools and skills they need to get the most out of their internet connection. Arkansas will use this funding to begin implementing a digital equity plan to ensure all Arkansans have access to digital resources and technology, regardless of location or income.
State funding is defined in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act and calculated based on a formula specified in the Funding Opportunity Notice that takes into account the state’s relative population (50%) and the relative size of the eligible population residing within the state.
