Apple has revamped its MacBook Air family, announcing two new laptops that look… almost identical to their predecessors. But under the hood, the new MacBook Air 13 and MacBook Air 15 include some significant upgrades that significantly improve CPU, graphics, and wireless performance.
new MacBook Air 13 Pre-orders are now available starting today for $1,099 or more.On the other hand, the new work MacBook Air 15 From $1299. Both of these lightweight, fanless laptops are expected to be available starting March 8, 2024.
Both laptops are powered by an Apple M3 processor, but it’s worth noting that Apple offers several versions of this chip. The entry-level MacBook Air 13 comes in a version with eight CPU cores and eight GPU cores, while all other models come with 10-core graphics.
Apple says the M3 processor will make the 2024 MacBook Air up to 60% faster than the 2020 model with the M1 chip, and up to 13 times faster than previous models with Intel processors. The company has not made a direct comparison with his 2022 MacBook Air 13 with the M2 chip or his 2023 MacBook Air 15 with M2. This is probably because most people using these models don’t plan to upgrade yet. But when the company launched his MacBook Air 13 with M2, it said it had up to 18% more CPU performance and 35% faster graphics.
Will there be another change this year? New MacBook Air models support his WiFi 6E, allowing up to 2x faster wireless connections compared to previous generation models.
Also worth remembering? No matter which model you choose with a 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch display, you get 8 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage at the starting price. You’ll have to pay an additional $200 to double the storage to 512 GB, and another $200 to double the memory to 16 GB.
So if you’re one of the many people who will never buy a laptop with less than 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage in 2024, the actual starting price for the MacBook Air 13 and 15 is 1499 each. Dollars and will be $1699.
If you want to max out the specs, the laptop can support up to 24 GB of memory and 2 TB of storage. But if that happens, the price will rise even more.
MacBook Air 13 and 15 laptops are available in Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray, and Silver colors, and all models have an aluminum unibody design. Both feature Apple’s Liquid Retina high-resolution displays with support for 1 billion colors and up to 500 nits of brightness.
Other features include two Thunderbolt ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, and a MagSafe charger.
Apple has also lowered the price of the previous generation MacBook Air 13 with the M2 processor, now starting at $999 ($1199 for the model with 16GB RAM).
