How to uninstall or disable apps on Moto G Stylus 5G 2024
You can uninstall or disable apps that you don’t need from your Moto G Stylus. Some apps can’t be uninstalled from your device. If an app can’t be uninstalled, you’ll see the disable option. When you disable an app, it will be hidden from your app drawer and will no longer run in the background. You will also no longer receive notifications from these apps.
However, these apps will remain on your device and can receive updates (to prevent them from being updated, you’ll need to turn off automatic updates from the Apps Manager). Below we’ll explain the two main ways to remove apps from your Moto G Stylus.
Method 1: Remove unnecessary apps from the app drawer
- In the app drawer, tap and hold the app’s icon.
- Tap i Icon Access App information.
- choice Uninstall or Disable.
Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to access the app drawer. You can also drag an app to the Trash to uninstall it from your phone.
Method 2: Remove unnecessary apps from Moto settings
- open setting.
- Tap Apps.
- choice All Apps.
- Select an app Uninstall or Disable.
Clear the app’s cache or data
When clearing apps on your Moto G Stylus, be sure to also clear the app’s cache and data, especially if you can only disable the app. You can’t uninstall an app without access to Android Debug Bridge (ADB). Clearing the cache and data can help resolve issues related to the app by resetting or completely deleting temporary data. If an app has become unresponsive or crashed, try clearing the cache before uninstalling it. Here’s how to clear an app’s cache and data:
- Open the app tray, then tap and hold the app icon.
- Tap i Icon.
- choice Storage and Caching.
- To clear the app cache, Clear cache.
- To clear the app storage (data), Clear Storage.
Clearing your storage (data) will erase all user data associated with that app, including settings, login information, etc. The app will be completely reset to the state it was in before you started using it.

How to delete system apps on Moto G Stylus 5G 2024
You can’t uninstall system apps without rooting your phone. Instead, you can freeze and hide unwanted apps (instead of disabling them). The easiest way to do this is to use Shizuku. Shizuku gives Android apps system-level API access. This is done without having to fully root your phone.
Shizuku allows you to freeze apps, which works the same as disabling an app. Freezing apps stops them from running in the background and using system resources. These apps will no longer be visible and you can unfreeze them at any time.
Permanently freezing these apps will prevent them from being kept up to date, and if you install a new app that requires use of a disabled system app, the app may not work properly until you re-enable it.
Remove carrier-specific apps on your Moto G Stylus 5G 2024
Depending on where you purchased your Moto G Stylus, your device may have carrier installed apps on it. These apps are notorious for being bloatware, installing other software that inflicts ads (and in the case of app managers, installing unwanted apps on your device without your permission). You can safely remove these apps with no going back. For example:
- T-Mobile
- T Life
- DT Ignite (system app)
- Verizon App Manager (System Apps)
If you bought your Moto G Stylus on a payment plan with an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), it may have bloatware from a partner carrier installed. MVNO providers often have policies about what apps can be pre-installed, but the rest depends on the partnership.
If you have a carrier-locked phone, it’s likely that your phone came with carrier apps pre-installed. Unlocking your phone is your best option to avoid (or have a minimal amount of) carrier-specific bloatware. You can purchase unlocked versions from Motorola or participating retailers.
What happens if you remove Google Play Store?
Google Play Store is a system app that comes with your Moto G Stylus smartphone. It is also the default app store for your phone. If you remove Google Play Store, you risk your other apps becoming outdated, losing notifications, being unable to connect to Play Services, or not working properly. You will also lose your primary way of getting apps.
It’s possible to do it without Google, but it takes work, a willingness to try out custom Android ROMs, and a familiarity with ensuring the security of APKs from third-party sources.

Are you having issues with your Moto G Stylus 5G 2024?
You may have decided to cut back on unnecessary software to improve your phone’s performance, but that didn’t solve the overheating issues or unexpected battery drain. The Moto G Stylus is a great phone for taking notes thanks to its built-in stylus and beautiful OLED display, but it’s not without its issues. If removing apps doesn’t fix common issues, consider doing a factory reset and deselecting even more apps during setup.
