The All Bands to 5G Summit, held during the Global Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF) 2023 in Dubai this month, sent a clear message that 5G has the power to shape the future of connectivity and revolutionize society. echoed. Industry experts and leaders from various stakeholders came together to share deep insights.


Arthur Zhang, CEO of Hangzhou For-x Technology, talked about leveraging 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) for innovation. Highlighting the immense potential of 5G in transforming the IoT industry, he said, “For-x Technology is committed to providing innovative products and solutions to our customers in the industry, with a special focus on 5G RedCap.” “I am doing so,” he said.

RedCap, an evolutionary aspect of 5G, is expected to have applications in power, security, vehicle monitoring, and wearables. Zhang envisioned the significant growth of smart cameras and the subsequent demand for comprehensive solutions, and highlighted important prospects in the security field. “For-x Technology invests heavily in research and development to deliver end-to-end solutions such as RedCap network cameras and a cloud platform that integrates connectivity management, device management, video management, and AI capabilities. “Our goal is to replace traditional wired Wi-Fi and 4G cameras with RedCap cameras to support innovative industry applications,” he added.

Ahmed Alshar, Director of Network Excellence Center and Emerging Technologies at UAE-based du telecom, provided interesting insights into the rapid adoption and rollout of 5G in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, particularly the UAE. He noted that competition among carriers and government agencies in promoting smart city initiatives has led to exceptional nationwide 5G coverage, particularly in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

In his presentation, Alshar highlighted the exponential growth of 5G traffic, showing that 5G will play a pivotal role across mobile networks. The UAE’s Du telecom has achieved the remarkable milestone of achieving 10 gigabits per second. This is a testament to the company’s commitment to being at the forefront of the 5G era.

Jawad Jalal Abassi, Head of MENA at GSMA, discussed the strategic challenges for a sustainable, secure, open and profitable network in 2023. He emphasized the importance of leveraging his 5G to close the utilization gap and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Abbasi highlighted the role of governments and regulators in allocating spectrum and ensuring the success of 5G deployments, helping operators generate new revenue, improve customer experience, and invest in standalone 5G radio access networks. We have presented key findings that demonstrate our focus. Additionally, he highlighted his expectations for 5G Advanced and his 5.5G use cases, such as 5G multicast services and low-cost IoT support, further driving the future of connectivity.

Huawei’s GigaGreen products provide solutions for all bands up to 5G, with a focus on performance, user experience, and reduced energy consumption. Our cooperation with carriers is aimed at building high-quality networks that improve the consumer experience.

Karim Yaichi, Principal Industry Analyst at Ookla, unlocked the potential of gaming in the MENA region and shed light on the fast-growing gaming sector. He emphasized the importance of introducing edge computing servers, deploying 5G SA, and planning for 5.5G locally to enable his cloud gaming without lag. He also emphasized the role of operators in reducing latency and improving the gaming experience, positioning themselves as leaders in the gaming ecosystem.

“Gaming has become a major focus for carriers, offering an opportunity to capture new customer segments and differentiate their brands.Given the rapid growth of gaming users, especially in the Gulf region, “However, a robust network infrastructure is essential to support gaming use cases and cloud gaming,” Yaici said.

Richard Liu, President of Huawei Global Carrier Marketing & Solution Sales, introduced Huawei’s approach to wireless networks and industry enablement.

During his presentation, Liu discussed a variety of emerging 5G customer services, including glasses-free 3D, new calling, and augmented reality (XR). These services have already proven to be highly effective for carriers, accelerating the prosperity of his 5G first movers in China and the Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Liu also highlighted RedCap’s role in the development of various industries such as power, manufacturing, and wearable devices.

He emphasized the need for high-quality 5G networks that support diverse scenarios and emphasized the importance of innovation to achieve network efficiency and resource utilization.

The Global Mobile Broadband Forum serves as a vital platform for industry leaders to share insights, strategies and innovations in the evolving 5G environment.
