Former President Trump called artificial intelligence (AI) “probably the most dangerous thing” in a new interview published Friday.
When asked by Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo about his views on the possibility of digital central banks and digital currencies, President Trump expressed concern.
“It’s very dangerous. It’s very dangerous. One day you’ll have no money in your account. That could be very dangerous,” President Trump said. “And the other thing that I think is probably the most dangerous one, because there’s no real solution, is what they call AI. It’s very scary.”
President Trump echoes concerns from tech officials and political observers that in an election year, AI could be used to distort images, audio and other forms of media to deceive the public for political purposes. did.
Last month, a digitally altered robocall was made to sound like President Biden was asking New Hampshire residents not to vote in Tuesday’s primary, warning voters about the dangers of AI.
“The other day I saw someone trick me into giving a speech about their product there,” Trump said. “I said, ‘I will never endorse that product.’ I don’t even know the difference. Apparently I do, too.”
The former president is a front-runner for the 2024 Republican nomination and spoke with Bartiromo this week on a number of issues, primarily economic-related.
