NEW DELHI: Homegrown telecom company Amantia Technologies has signed a strategic partnership to integrate its 5G standalone User Plane Function (UPF) with Napatek’s high-performance smart network interface card (SmartNIC).
Napatech is a publicly traded company headquartered in Denmark that supplies programmable SmartNICs and infrastructure processing units (IPUs) used in cloud, enterprise, and communications data center networks.
“This partnership aims to streamline critical packet processing functions within the 5G packet core, optimizing performance, scalability and energy efficiency for carriers,” Amantia said in a statement on Tuesday. .
According to the Gurugram-based telco, the integration of UPF and SmartNIC enables offloading of real-time packet processing from general-purpose server CPU cores, ensuring optimal resource utilization and improved network performance.

It added that this will give carriers more granular control over network quality parameters, enabling more scalability and lower latency for robust 5G networks.
