Indian telecom equipment manufacturer HFCL has announced the launch of locally developed 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) consumer premises equipment (CPE) for telecom operators, local media reported.
HFCL said its 5G FWA products are already being tested with domestic and international customers, adding that the global 5G FWA market is expected to reach a value of $68 billion by 2030.
The company said its 5G FWA solution operates in the sub-6 GHz and mmWave spectrum and is suitable for both 5G standalone (5G SA) and 5G non-standalone (5G NSA) networks.
According to recent reports, Indian telco Reliance Jio Infocomm’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service, called JioAirFiber, is already commercially available in 514 cities across 25 states across India.
JioAirFiber serves Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, It is available in Mizoram, Maharashtra, Odisha, Nagaland and Tamil Nadu. , Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The company announced that it will launch 5G FWA services in eight cities nationwide in September. The service was initially launched in the cities of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
Jio had earlier said that its fiber optic infrastructure now spreads over 1.5 million kilometers across India and the telco is in close proximity to over 200 million facilities. Rival telco Bharti Airtel previously said its 5G-based Airtel Xstream AirFiber product is already available to customers in Delhi and Mumbai. The carrier said the new service, which brings internet to consumers in fiber-optic areas, will address last-mile connectivity issues in both rural and urban India, where access to fiber-optic infrastructure is a challenge. He said he would deal with it.
Airtel said Xstream AirFiber is a plug-and-play device with built-in Wi-Fi 6 technology that provides wide indoor coverage and can connect up to 64 devices simultaneously. Airtel said it plans to launch the service in multiple cities and expand it across the country in phases.
