Nokia The company announced that it has signed a comprehensive 5G contract. Claro Argentina Claro has signed a contract to roll out 5G infrastructure across Argentina. The contract covers the first phase of 5G deployment in Argentina, reaching the country’s major cities. The contract will provide consumers and businesses with reliable, low latency and ultra-fast connectivity, supporting Claro’s strategy to digitalize Argentina. Nokia is the sole supplier and this contract will increase its market share.
Nokia will deploy equipment from its 5G AirScale portfolio, powered by its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, which includes base stations, baseband units and the latest generation of Massive MIMO radios, providing extensive 5G capacity and coverage while being easy to deploy. 5G technology is set to transform many vertical sectors in Argentina, including manufacturing and oil and gas. Nokia will also provide planning, implementation, integration and network optimization services.
Claro becomes the first customer in Latin America to deploy Nokia’s Interleaved Passive Active Antennas (IPAA+) across all of its locations. Service providers typically face the challenge of finding additional space on towers and rooftops to add 5G antennas. Nokia’s IPAA+ accelerates 5G deployment by addressing this practical problem. With a modular design, the compact antenna solution supports a wide range of frequencies from 700 MHz to 2.6 GHz and the 3.5 GHz 5G band.
Nokia has been a long-standing partner of Claro Argentina, helping the company roll out its 2G, 3G, 4G and now 5G networks.
Julio Carlos Porras, CEO of Claro Argentina, said: “Our investment in 5G networks with our partner Nokia is proof of our technology leadership and commitment to innovation.
