Back in April, The Hollywood Reporter reported rumors that the John Wick and Cyberpunk 2077 actor would be joining the cast as Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but this has yet to be officially confirmed.
The film is set to hit theaters on December 20, and a trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is expected to be released soon.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the second highest-grossing video game movie in the United States, having held the top spot until it was overtaken by Super Mario Bros.
In a 2022 interview with VGC, the Sonic Team leader spoke about the impact of the film’s success, noting that the wider audience that the game’s releases can address poses an exciting challenge for the studio.
“Thanks to the success of the movie, we’ve been able to connect with a wider range of people, including those who haven’t played many games before,” explains Takashi Iizuka. “Now we have to create content that will appeal to this wider range of people.”
