- Celcom to Leverage Huawei’s Data for Customer Insights and Digital Transformation
CelcomDigi Bhd and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd have formally signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into CelcomDigi’s network, paving the way for establishing one of the most intelligent 4G and 5G-enabled networks in the country.
The collaboration will explore applying AI capabilities to CelcomDigi’s Radio Access Network (RAN), also known as “IntelligentRAN,” including incorporating a digital twin system to enable rapid experimentation with new network models, implementing proactive network management capabilities through advanced analytics, and leveraging multiple supporting systems to intelligently provision network services to improve customer experience.
AI and automation can significantly improve network productivity and innovation, even as network infrastructure becomes more complex. Creating digital twins allows companies to run large-scale simulations on virtual network replicas before real-world implementation, accelerating innovation at lower cost and with minimal customer impact. Proactive network management leveraging predictive algorithms ensures a consistent and reliable customer experience. Additionally, intelligent orchestration of 4G and 5G resources enables more personalized and improved wireless services for customers.
CelcomDigi CEO Idham Nawawi said: “Malaysia is well positioned to be a regional leader in both 5G and AI development. We are investing aggressively to build the country’s most advanced 4G and 5G-ready network to realise this ambition and cater to the needs of consumers and businesses in the new ‘Digital Everything’ era powered by 5G and AI. With a robust AI-driven network, we believe we are perfectly positioned to deploy a high-performance 5G network and drive Malaysia’s digital future.”
Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia CEO Simon Sun stressed that with advances in AI technology, Malaysia is at a turning point in the deployment of network intelligence.
“Our vision is to build an intelligent network across Malaysia. To achieve this, Huawei Malaysia is evolving from an ICT solutions provider to a co-architect of AI-driven networks. By jointly deploying IntelligentRAN with CelcomDigi, we will unlock significant business value by fully integrating AI capabilities across all layers of the radio network to enable 5G business success,” he said.
Through this partnership, CelcomDigi and Huawei Malaysia will also explore jointly leveraging cross-domain data convergence from the Huawei platform to gain a comprehensive view of customer and service lifecycle, enable proactive user experience management, and support seamless digital transformation across the company’s network operations.
