The Arlington County Police Department has introduced a new crime dashboard featuring up-to-date data on crimes and arrests.
The data hub, which was launched today (Friday), includes an interactive map of crime locations that users can sort by region, crime type, time period and police patrol area. It also breaks down crime data by month and includes a detailed breakdown of arrests based on crime code and date.
The data is updated every Wednesday morning.

As part of this effort, ACPD strives to build trust and confidence with the people we serve through increased transparency and communication, and has launched the Crime Data Hub as an additional tool for the community to stay informed about reported crime incidents occurring in Arlington County.
The Crime Data Hub includes dashboards and maps for incident crime and overall arrest data. These dashboards and maps allow community members to search for crime by date range for specific geographic areas, visualize how crime has changed over time, and query overall arrest data. Prior to launching the Crime Data Hub, the dashboards and maps were published to various community groups to solicit feedback to ensure they reflected the needs of the community.
About crime data
Arlington County Police report crimes using the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS). NIBRS data is reported as Group A crimes and Group B/Other. Group A crimes are divided into three categories: Crimes Against Person, Crimes Against Property, and Crimes Against Community. More information on the crimes included in these categories and definitions of each crime is available from the FBI.
The Crime Data Hub is updated every Wednesday morning and is for informational purposes. The data contained in the Crime Data Hub is provisional and subject to change based on subsequent criminal investigations. A comprehensive database of annual crimes reported in Virginia is available on the Virginia State Police (VSP) website.
