Barack Obama was back in the spotlight on Tuesday night when he spoke at the Democratic National Convention, sparking an uproar on the Internet as many believed he made a crude joke about Donald Trump.
Rather than an endorsement of Kamala Harris, the 44th president delivered a speech that sounded more like a childish attack on Trump, including laughing at his “bizarre obsession with crowd size.”
Obama began gesticulating with his hands, making them bigger and smaller, then looked down and realized what he was doing, as the liberal crowd cheered in approval.
As one social media commenter pointed out, “This isn’t a ‘they go low, we go high’ party anymore.”
Conservative commentator Todd Stearns described Obama’s comments about the size of President Trump’s genitals as “weird” and “creepy”.

“There are some weirdos in this tournament,” added another user unhappy with both sides.
Conservative influencer Benny Johnson mocked Obama’s party for inviting Lil Jon, responding, “Democrats have to bring rappers to their events to fill seats.”
“@BarackObama, we all knew what that hand gesture meant,” posted former CNN host Don Lemon, taking the remark in a more suggestive sense.
Others praised Obama for his crude joke, with one person saying: “Barack Obama’s joke about crowd size may be the biggest blunder in political history.”
President Obama appeared to have missed a rare display of kindness from Trump ahead of the former president’s speech at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.
Asked what he thought of Obama, the 44th president and his longtime rival, Trump criticized Obama’s trade policies but praised his character.
“I like him and I think he’s a good gentleman, but he was very weak on trade. If you look at what’s happened to our country on the trade side, it’s been a disaster.”

While Trump cited former President Barack Obama’s dealings with China and Japan as a major flaw in his presidency, he offered some praise for the former president and First Lady Michelle Obama in his speech on Tuesday.
“I happen to like him. I respect him. I respect his wife,” Trump told CNN.
Trump had been feuding with the former president for years before his approving comments aimed at Obama on Saturday.
When he was still a private citizen, Trump spent years promoting the “birther” conspiracy theory that Obama was not born in the United States and therefore could not serve as president.
Since entering politics, Trump has claimed Obama was the “founder of ISIS” and “one of the worst presidents in American history.”
During a tumultuous 2016 election season, President Obama wrote Trump a letter on Inauguration Day and left it in a drawer in the Oval Office. Trump said at the time that the letter was “wonderful.”
President Obama returned to his message of “hope” and “change” to liven up the Democratic convention, repeating the same mockery he has unleashed against Donald Trump for years.
The first black president likened Donald Trump to another candidate with a “funny name” before touting Kamala Harris as his new successor.

Obama’s remarks came as a series of speeches criticized Trump’s policies and videos alternated between mocking him and calling him a grave threat. “We don’t need four more years of mayhem and chaos. We’ve seen that movie. We all know the sequels are almost always worse,” Obama said to applause.
The former president endorsed Harris and her candidacy with a new spin on his 2008 campaign slogan.
President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama headlined the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which also featured Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders.
President Trump is scheduled to debate Senator Kamala Harris for the first time on September 10 in Philadelphia.
