As airlines grapple with growing demand for reliable in-flight internet, Turkish Airlines has committed to providing universal, free connectivity across its fleet. Olivia Paramount reports.
Turkish Airlines has announced plans to revamp its in-flight connectivity services, offering free, unlimited, high-speed internet access to all passengers on all its aircraft.
Turkey’s national airline aims to launch these services within two years, starting in the second half of 2025.
The initiative involves an overhaul of the airline’s existing fleet and will see the introduction of cutting-edge In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) technology.
Additionally, all new aircraft joining the fleet will be equipped with state-of-the-art IFC systems.
These upgrades will expand Turkish Airlines’ current Wi-Fi service, already available on most flights, to the entire fleet, ensuring all travellers have a seamless digital experience at no extra cost.
The move comes in response to changing passenger expectations when it comes to their digital consumption habits during air travel.
An increasing number of airlines now offer free Wi-Fi services, and some are even going the extra mile to provide an engaging digital experience on board.
For example, JetBlue The company has partnered with Amazon Prime to develop the “Fly-Fi” network system, allowing passengers to stream Amazon Video while traveling.
