A bride and groom have imposed shocking rules on their wedding guests. The long list of controversial wedding rules they imposed on their guests has left social media users shocked, according to media reports. IndependentEvent planner Ivy Miller shared a now-viral TikTok video detailing the five things her couples shouldn’t do on their special day, and the video has garnered over 3.5 million views and 228,000 likes.
Many users called the list of guidelines “draconian” and said they would “better stay home” than attend a wedding if so many activities are banned.
According to the user, the bride and groom didn’t want the DJ at their wedding to take song requests from guests, telling them, “If you want your music played, go to the club.” They also didn’t want guests to have their pictures taken by a photographer. “We’re not paying tens of thousands of dollars for random portraits,” the post read.
Instead of handing out photo books at the event, guests were directed to a group app to crowdsource photos from the day, and the couple also banned visitors from bringing a plus-one, saying they “didn’t want to stress or pay for strangers they’ve never met.”
According to Miller’s post, the bride and groom also decided not to serve alcohol during the wedding because they wanted their guests to have “truly celebratory memories.”
Since this was shared, many people have criticized the couple for imposing these rules and not letting their guests have fun.
“This is exactly why people go to weddings,” one person said.
Another added: “I’d recommend a really small wedding so your guests don’t secretly hate you.”
“No plus one? No alcohol? Is this a wedding?” one user commented.
“Looks more like a business meeting than a wedding,” wrote another TikTok user.
“It’s their wedding, their rules. You guys don’t have to go,” one person wrote, defending the couple.
Another person commented: “I completely agree with these rules, I applied them at my own wedding and everyone was happy.”
