Recently, the wrestling world was rocked by reports of the death of another legend, but now it has been confirmed that 81-year-old Afa Anoa’i is still alive. After false reports of his passing, his family was quick to clarify the situation. However, some of the biggest names in the wrestling press were quick to report the fake news about Afa’s passing.
Despite widespread reports, Afa’s daughter Vale Anoa’i and son Sam confirmed that the wrestling legend is alive, putting an end to the premature tributes that had been circulating, but his condition is still described as “fighting” and hope remains for a full recovery.
“He’s not done fighting yet, he’s still alive.” Vale tweeted, which sparked immediate reaction from the internet wrestling community, with fans quickly deleting the post, and Dave Meltzer also taking to Twitter to correct him.
Eric Bischoff responded to Dave Meltzer’s correction by criticizing the credibility and honesty of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reporter.
“Dave, not only are you laughably ignorant about the wrestling business, but your sloppy and dishonest reporting on cosplay makes the pond dregs look bad.”
In recent years, Afa has had a number of health issues, including multiple heart surgeries and back surgeries following a serious fall. These issues have had a significant impact on his health and have raised concerns about his state of health.
Our hearts go out to Afa as he continues to fight. He has paved the way for many who have come after him in the world of professional wrestling. Stay tuned to Ringside News for updates on this story.
