It’s late June and summer has officially begun. Instead of spending a sunny weekend cooped up at home, you can head to the beach to enjoy the warm weather (while it’s still warm), work on your tan and swim in the ocean.
If you live on the East Coast of the United States, don’t forget to bring your cell phone. Don’t worry, you won’t have any trouble getting online, at least if you’re a Verizon user. Major mobile carriers are working on increasing 5G capabilities on major East Coast beaches, so you can stay connected for as long as you want.
Summer vacationers on the East Coast can enjoy better 5G coverage while posting photos of their hot summer days
June is almost over, which means the height of summer and July is looming over us all like seagulls after a hot dog. Lots of people are heading to the beach, but if you’ve ever been to a crowded beach, you know that the internet isn’t always the best with cellular data.
Luckily, Verizon knows this and plans to make your summer even more amazing by upgrading its 5G network across the entire East Coast of the US. That means your Instagram followers and Facebook friends won’t have to wait until you get home to see pictures of your sexy new summer bod.
The Jersey Shore is one of the coastal areas that has seen a big increase in data usage, so Verizon just completed a major upgrade in that part of the coast. Improved areas include Sea Girt, Lavallette, Seaside Park and Ortley Beach, with improvements expected in Brick and Asbury Park as well.
Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head, South Carolina, are also getting some love. By the numbers, the former is getting 20 new small cells and adding 5G capacity to 31 of its existing cells. The latter is getting brand new cell sites and adding 5G capacity to eight of its existing cells. Verizon is clearly doing a lot to perfect the beach experience this summer.

You probably don’t want to pay extra every month to take advantage of the full benefits of 5G from Verizon. Luckily, if your phone supports eSIM, you can actually try it out. If your phone supports it, you’ll get 30 days of unlimited talk and text on the network, as well as access to 5G Ultra Wideband.
We’ve already explained how to test this, so check out this article for more details. Make the decision so you don’t end up being the only one on the beach using LTE.
