- Cleft Note. I’ve tried many AI-powered voice memo apps, but this one might be the best yet. Just speak and the app will transform your unorganized thoughts into well-formatted notes. You can switch to transcript at any time.
- gentleman from moscow. Amor Thors Book This drama, in which Ewan McGregor plays a count who lives under house arrest in a luxury hotel, is much more interesting than I expected, and it seems to be quite popular. I might be willing to pay Paramount Plus for this.
- anxious generationby Jonathan Haidt. Remember that atlantic ocean Story Please tell us about the effects that phones and social media, which were all the rage a few weeks ago, have on children. This is the book version. I don’t necessarily like Haidt’s ideas and thinking, but for now I read this book only as a conversation starter for a series of conversations about how to be a parent (and a child, and a human being) in modern society. I’m here. There’s a lot to chew on here.
- Steve! (Martin) Two-part documentary. This doc is over three hours long, which is a lot of time to spend with Steve Martin. But it’s Steve Martin! In a way, this is a documentary about how no one really knows the main character, and it’s a deep look at a rather vain but still very funny man.
- Sigma OS. This is a browser full of interesting ideas about how a browser should work. Most recently, the company rolled out a set of AI features for web search and summarization. As someone who publishes information on the Internet, this is a very moving experience for me. As a user, it’s quite convenient.
- believers. A Netflix show about startups, religion, fraud, the power of marketing and belief, fake it until you make it, crime, cops, more crime, and more cops? Yes, I’m planning on watching this on Netflix this weekend.
- Spotify course. Every time Spotify releases something new, I think two things. beginning, Oh, and is this going to break Spotify’s UI even more? Then, secondly, Ah, this might actually work. This week’s participants: Video and audio education courses. It’s only available in the UK at the moment, but I’d like to try it out if I can get it.
- The Spider Within: Into the Spider-Verse. It’s a 7-minute short film, and it’s a full-fledged movie. The animation of the movie Into the Spider-Verse His style continues to amaze me, but this story about anxiety and communication is a very powerful one. And it’s all for a good cause!
- 8BitDo Commodore 64 Keyboard. Thanks to everyone who emailed me last week after I complained about the keyboard! I’m considering the Silent Switch and his Logitech MX keys, but my heart already belongs to this $110 device. It has all the flair and customization you’d expect from a retro beige keyboard.
screen sharing
jesse david fox I don’t know about comedy, but I probably know more about it than anyone else.he writes: vulture (Friends of Vox Media) About comedy. He wrote a fun book about comedy. comedy book; he hosts a very funny and sometimes very deep podcast good oneand he turned that podcast into a Peacock special that aired this week. Good One: A show about jokes. Not only is this about Mike Birbiglia, which I love, but it’s also about what it means to be funny and creative and just a human being.
I asked Jesse to share his home screen partly because I wanted to know if there was a comedy app out there, but also because I wanted to know if there was a comedy app out there that’s always interesting to watch, listen to, read, discover, talk about, and analyze. It was also because I wanted to know how the people who do the work do it. — actually find them all.
Below you can see Jesse’s home screen and information about which apps he uses and why.
phone: It’s the iPhone 13 Mini, but I don’t like it. I like that it’s not that big, but I swear my next phone won’t be Apple.
wallpaper: The lock screen is a photo of Art Shea. My home screen is Joel Meyerowitz. Isn’t it wonderful? I saw both at a photo show many years ago.
App: Calendar, Photos, Camera, Apple Notes, Settings, Weather, Clock, SevenBell, Phone, Yelp, Peacock, Messages, Marvel Unlimited.
In general, these are the apps I use and I can use them without any problems. Weather, notes, camera, podcast app (I listen to a lot of podcasts for research) good one) is the one I use most often. I always check Slack and Instagram, but I want something more challenging so I have to search.
Two apps recently moved to the homepage: 1.) Peacock so you can always play. good one Special services to increase views, and 2.) Marvel Unlimited. I recently started reading manga. There are some MCU movies and shows of his that I really like, so I thought I might want a source for that. And I love it! I love Groot.
We also asked Jesse to tell us about some of the things he’s currently passionate about. Here’s what he sent back:
- Watch content. During the pandemic, YouTube got me hooked on watches. I received a lot of service on TikTok pawn stars I really liked the clip. Then all clips are Actually on YouTubeThat way I won’t have to worry about TikTok destroying my brain. After a few weeks I started running out pawn stars Clips and YouTube suggestions antique roadshow clip, I loved it.one of the most famous antique roadshow Clip includes older veterans Received an exorbitant quote for his Rolex, loved it. YouTube started suggesting the next video, probably because I watched it a few times and sent it to people. hodinkee and teddy baldassar. Fast forward a few years, and now my Instagram feed is filled with photos of old watches and shady characters trading in watches I’ll never be able to afford. (If you can afford it and would like my suggestions, please feel free to contact me.) I also have many theories about a massive conspiracy involving all these content creators. So I’m spending my time exclusively trying to figure it out.
- clip of mind the game Podcast. I like to see two people talking about things they both know well, whether I’m familiar with the subject or not. I watch and play basketball, but LeBron James and JJ Redick’s new podcasts are often beyond my comprehension. Still, I think it’s really fun to watch LeBron act like a big idiot about how to guard reverse pick-and-rolls. That said, I can’t actually watch every episode because it’s too boring.
- newcomer. Podcasters on opposite ends of the spectrum, Lauren Lapkus and Nicole Byer know nothing about what they’re talking about about each season (currently the Batman movies), but they support each other’s confusions and whimsical misreadings of the series. There’s something very endearing about the method. The movies they watch.
- after midnight and dinner time live. I like comedians and I like watching people cook, but the most fun part of both shows is that things often go wrong. Comedians do crazy things, intentionally break the rules, after midnight Host Taylor Tomlinson seems pissed at them, but almost everyone is laughing, including me.upon DTL, David Chang really messes up his cooking more than usual on cooking shows. And with the best episodes, the guests find ways to become agents of disruption themselves. A lot of late night TV is well organized. It’s fun to see people relatively free.
