MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Spokesperson Chris Bendillo said yesterday that a third telecommunications company has announced free Wi-Fi at all terminals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to enhance connectivity for passengers. announced that it will provide -Fi.
He added that in addition to Globe Telecom and Smart Communications Inc., Converge will soon be added to NAIA’s free WiFi service.
“Currently, we have two service providers providing internet access to the terminals, and we are currently in the process of installing hardware for a third (telco) provider,” Bendijo said.
Based on MIAA’s timeline, Converge should be able to start offering free WiFi by this month.
“We expect to have a third provider by April. At the moment, the current data bandwidth cannot accommodate the number of people in the airport, so if there is no movement, you will be disconnected after two hours and have to log in again. Yes, but there is a limitation in that you will need to enter it a third time. Dear players, we hope that we can provide more internet connections,” Bendijo said.
Effective rat eradication campaign
Meanwhile, Bendijo said a rat eradication campaign at the airport had proven effective.
“We cannot ignore the fact that we have food vendors who inevitably attract rodents. Although a large number of traps have been set and the number and size of caught (rats) has decreased, “This is proof that the measures are working,” he said.
Bendijo pointed out that the bed bugs found at the airport did not originally come from the Philippines, based on the Department of Quarantine’s report.
“I rely solely on the Department of Quarantine’s statements regarding the possibility of introduced (bed bug) introductions,” he said.
