Srinath, a native of Munnar in Kerala, worked as a coolie at Ernakulam railway station to support his family. He worked diligently as a passenger baggage carrier at the train station, as it was his family’s only source of income.
He started working in second shift and was able to earn Rs 100 million. 400 rupees 500 pieces per day. But Sreenath had the tenacity to make things right.
He began studying for competitive exams, but due to limited funds, he was unable to cover the high tuition fees. At that time, his smartphone came to his rescue. In January 2016, the government started providing free WiFi access at the Mumbai Central Railway Station, so Srinath started studying with online courses on his smartphone using his WiFi at the station. He proved that passion is all you need to succeed. All he needed to make his dream come true was a smartphone, memory card, earphones, and free WiFi. He didn’t even need to buy textbooks.
He studied hard and passed the Kerala State Civil Service Examination (KPSC), but was not satisfied and passed the UPSC Civil Service Examination. In his fourth attempt to become an IAS officer, he cleared the civil service exam.
