CNN — London (CNN) — Britain’s King Charles III’s personal medical records were not accessed in an alleged data breach at a London hospital, according to multiple British media outlets, including CNN affiliate ITV.
The British tabloid Daily Mirror first reported the matter.
The development comes a day after Britain’s data privacy watchdog, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), confirmed it was “evaluating” reports that hospital staff had attempted to access the Princess of Wales’ medical records. Ta. She underwent abdominal surgery for unknown reasons and was discharged from the facility on January 29th.
The king, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, was treated separately at the same hospital for an enlarged prostate and was discharged hours after his daughter-in-law.
Buckingham Palace said it had no comment when contacted by CNN on Thursday morning.
Several British media outlets, citing the Daily Mirror, reported on Thursday that up to three staff members at the clinic were being investigated in connection with the incident over Kate’s records.
CNN has contacted Kensington Palace about the latest reports surrounding the Princess of Wales’ medical data, but has not yet received a response.
A London Clinic spokesperson told CNN on Thursday that he had nothing further to add to the statement issued the day before by the hospital’s CEO, Al Russell. Action will be taken. ”
Britain has strict data protection laws, and Health Minister Maria Caulfield warned on Wednesday that hospital staff could be prosecuted if they were found to have accessed the princess’s medical records without permission.
Mr Caulfield indicated that London police had been contacted about the possible data breach. However, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson told CNN on Wednesday that they were “not aware of any referrals” at this time.
