Dr. Joe Anokhi
The Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Joe Anokye, has assured the nation that the internet disruption will not disrupt the December 2024 general elections.
Dr. Anokye dismissed claims that the election could be interfered with due to internet failures.
He emphasized that the electoral process on election day is manual and suggested that internet disruptions will not compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
In an interview with City News on March 19, 2024, he said: “If you understand how elections work, that’s not true at all. In fact, I think one of the EC officials also mentioned this. Dr. Anokye also highlighted the challenges associated with determining the cause of the recent disconnection of undersea fiber optic cables essential to Ghana’s internet connectivity.
He explained that the considerable distance between the four submarine cables makes it very difficult to determine the exact cause of the disconnection.
