Ansys, Keysight, Nokia, and Samsung are the first to use NVIDIA Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin, Aerial CUDA-Accelerated RAN, and Sionna Neural Radio Framework to help enable the future of communications
NVIDIA’s 6G Research Cloud platform gives researchers a new approach to developing the next stage of wireless technology.
GTC—NVIDIA today announced a 6G research platform that provides researchers with a new approach to developing the next stage of wireless technology.
The NVIDIA 6G Research Cloud platform is open, flexible, and interconnected, providing researchers with a comprehensive suite to advance AI in radio access network (RAN) technologies. The platform enables organizations to accelerate the development of 6G technology that connects trillions of devices to cloud infrastructure, creating a hyper-intelligent world supported by self-driving cars, smart spaces, and a wide range of augmented reality and immersive educational experiences. can build the foundation of Collaborative robot.
Initial adopters and ecosystem partners include Ansys, Arm, ETH Zurich, Fujitsu, Keysight, Nokia, Northeastern University, Rohde & Schwarz, Samsung, SoftBank Corp., and Viavi.
“The massive increase in connected devices and a host of new applications in 6G will require a significant leap forward in radio spectrum efficiency for wireless communications,” said Ronnie Vasishta, senior vice president of telecoms at NVIDIA. “The key to achieving this is the use of AI, a full software-defined RAN reference stack, and next-generation digital twin technology.”
The NVIDIA 6G Research Cloud platform consists of three basic elements:
- NVIDIA Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin for 6G: Reference applications and developer samples that enable physically accurate simulation of complete 6G systems, from single towers to city scale. It incorporates a software-defined RAN and user equipment simulator, along with realistic terrain and object properties. Omniverse Aerial Digital Twin allows researchers to simulate and build base station algorithms based on site-specific data and train models in real-time to improve transmission efficiency.
- NVIDIA Airborne CUDA Acceleration RAN: A full software-defined RAN stack provides researchers with significant flexibility to customize, program, and test 6G networks in real-time.
- NVIDIA Sionna Neural Radio Framework: A framework that provides seamless integration with popular frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. Leverage NVIDIA GPUs to generate and capture data to train AI and machine learning models at scale. This also includes his NVIDIA Sionna, the leading link-level research tool for AI/ML-based wireless simulation.
Industry-leading researchers can advance their research using all elements of the 6G Development Research Cloud Platform.
“The future convergence of 6G and AI has the potential to transform the technology landscape,” said Charlie Zhang, senior vice president, Samsung Research America. “This will enable seamless connectivity and intelligent systems that will redefine how we interact with the digital world and usher in an era of unparalleled innovation and connectivity.”
Testing and simulation play a critical role in the development of next-generation wireless technologies. Leading providers in this space are collaborating with NVIDIA to contribute to the new requirements for AI with 6G.
“Ansys is committed to furthering the mission of 6G Research Cloud by seamlessly integrating the state-of-the-art Ansys Perceive EM solver into 6G Research Cloud. omniverse ecosystem” said Sean Carpenter, program director for 5G/6G and space at Ansys. “Perceive EM will revolutionize the creation of digital twins for 6G systems. There is no doubt that the convergence of NVIDIA and his Ansys technology will pave the way for his AI-enabled 6G communication systems.”
“Access to wireless-specific design tools is limited but necessary for building robust AI,” said Kailash Narayanan, president and general manager of Keysight Communications Solutions Group. “Keysight is pleased to leverage our wireless networking expertise to enable the next generation of innovation in 6G communications networks.”
