Crispy and flavorful, samosas have captured the hearts (and palates) of food lovers around the world. Recently, they discovered a new hero in Vietnamese-American chef Newton Nguyen. His samosa making video captured the hearts of netizens. With over 10 million views and counting, Nguyen’s culinary masterpieces captivate viewers with their irresistible charm.
In a video on his Instagram, chef Newton Nguyen makes samosas from scratch in response to a fan’s request. He began the process by peeling and cutting three large potatoes into large chunks and boiling them in salted water. In a separate pot, he mixed oil, Kashmiri powder, garam masala, coriander and cumin powder to make a flavorful masala. After preparing the masala, he chopped green chillies, garlic and coriander. The boiled potatoes were then mashed and mixed with the masala along with chopped garlic, green chillies, coriander and a small bowl of peas.
For the dough, refined flour, cumin seeds, and oil were mixed and kneaded into the dough. Next, we made cones from the dough and filled them with the potato mixture. After sealing the samosas, they were fried until golden and crispy. Lastly, he enjoyed eating samosas with green mint chutney.
He shared this video with an interesting caption. “Samosa, I’ve only ever had the vegetarian version, but I’d like to make a meat version instead of chicken or beef…” I have a lot of frozen raccoon ankle meat saved up. ”
The response from viewers, especially those in India, where samosas hold a special place in their food culture, has been nothing short of ecstatic. Comments poured in praising Nguyen’s skill and attention to detail.
One fan said, “Punjabi people would be so proud of you,” while another commented, “I’m so glad you didn’t say mimosa.”
Another user wrote, “Those Punjabis and all of us are really happy about this.”
