There’s a lot of buzz in the world of artificial intelligence right now, and unsurprisingly, humans are primarily driving the buzz. While everyone from Elon Musk to the New York Times is busy suing his OpenAI, all I’m interested in is whether these AI chatbots actually exist. work.

First, I withdrew from “Aunt Patty’s” family meals…
Without hurting her feelings, of course. I had her three bots compose an email politely excuse me from her family’s meal prepared by a hypothetical aunt. we’ve all been there.
◾ ChatGPT said, “Thank you very much.” Her aunt said she “really values the time we spend together as a family” and that it was a “difficult decision” not to attend. A little too dramatic for me.
◾ Thank you for your confusion. “Every year, you kindly organize this event,” he said, expressing his “heartfelt gratitude” for the event and “disappointment” and “apology” for not being able to participate this time. It felt inorganic.
Winner: Gemini. The newspaper acknowledged the “effort and love” my aunt had put into the “special gathering” and said I was “incredibly disappointed that I couldn’t be there.” Bonus: Suggested alternatives such as video calls.
And I launched a “million dollar” business
“Shark Tank” is here! I asked the bots to write a pitch for my hot new business idea. It’s a phone case that physically locks your handset so you don’t get distracted during work or family time.
◾ Gemini called it “Rockaway” And we promise “intensive productivity” with this innovative product. Gemini said this is “not just about protecting your phone, but also about protecting your time and attention.” Okay, not bad.
◾ Perplexity’s genius name? “Smartphone case with lock” Step aside, Steve Jobs…but you did come up with a decent tagline: “Where productivity meets peace of mind.”
Winner: “FocusGuard” by ChatGPT. I give this one to ChatGPT (and not just because it was the most flattering). Some of the most imaginative and made-up quotes were also included. It extolled the “out-of-the-box” benefits of Focus Guard for productivity, happiness, and relationships.
Finally, I made plans for a hike.
Of course, these big models don’t really “know” anything, but they have read a lot. human Equipped with knowledge, I asked for advice on planning a short hike with my husband.
◾ Gemini was all about atmosphere. He also talked about how to choose a route and the scenery he wanted to see (rolling green hills, please!). They also suggested safety equipment such as water and first aid.
◾ Perplexity’s advice was brief and vague. You mentioned water and first aid kits, and I’m glad we agreed.that did However, it contains some useful links, including links to understand how long does it take to hike. (Fun fact: a Scottish hiker developed this method in his 1892!)
My Favorites: Chat GPT. It hits all the basics in a very clear and concise way and is a winning bullet point. It reminded me to check the weather, research the trails, tell someone where I was going, avoid the hottest parts of the day, and (of course) bring water and first aid. Bonus: It reminded me not to litter in nature.
Final score: ChatGPT 2, Gemini 1, Perplexity 0
It would be a great achievement if AI could help us avoid awkward social interactions. For now, these are still self-correcting machines dialed up to 11. Whether these jobs will be completely outsourced to AI remains to be seen, but it’s a good starting point.
