Although much of the attention and perhaps sales is focused on high-end premium smartphones, the range of devices and designs is much wider than what is presented in the media. Of course, there are products that are designed to be more affordable, but of course they will have to cut some corners when it comes to features. But sometimes a few products seem to take on the challenge of offering more for less, incorporating designs and features that you wouldn’t expect from their price. The new Moto G Power 5G (2024) seems to be one of those guys, packing some fun surprises that might put this device on people’s maps.

Moto G has been Motorola’s budget line for years, and the family has several members designed to serve very specific needs. The Moto G Power, as its name suggests, is focused on delivering longer battery life than your average smartphone, at least. His 2024 version of this phone is no different, featuring his 5,000 mAh pack found only on more expensive models, but that’s only half the appeal.
Generally, the larger the battery, the longer the charging time. So the 30W TurboPower charging feature is more than just a nice-to-have. It’s a must have. But this year, Motorola went a step further and added 15W wireless charging for added convenience. It’s definitely not the fastest wireless charging technology, but how many $300 smartphones can you name that support wireless charging? This makes the Moto G Power 5G (2024) better than any other model. It’s also worth noting, but it’s not just a hardware feature.
This new Moto G Power comes with synthetic leather on the back to make it look stylish despite its price. Sure, this synthetic leather looks simple and elegant, at least based on Motorola’s marketing materials, but it can sometimes look cheap. Again, this isn’t necessarily a groundbreaking feature, but it’s something you rarely see in budget designs.
Having said that, this phone doesn’t have much to boast about when it comes to performance, but it’s by no means inferior. It has a 2.2GHz MediaTek processor with 8GB of RAM, a 50MP main camera paired with an 8MP ultrawide shooter, and, perhaps to the delight of audiophiles, a 3.5mm headphone jack. And if the Moto G Power 5G (2024) is still a little too much for your wallet, Motorola is offering a $200 Moto with the same fancy faux-leather design, albeit with slightly less features and no wireless charging. G 5G (2024) will also be released.
