omnispace We partner with mobile phone network operators in Africa MTN To consider the use of S-band for satellite services in MTN’s portfolio of wireless services. The companies announced the agreement on Tuesday and will explore integrating MTN’s terrestrial mobile network with the Omnispace non-terrestrial (NTN) network to provide consumer mobile and enterprise IoT services.
MTN is Africa’s largest MNO, providing voice, data, fintech, digital, enterprise, wholesale and API services to over 290 million customers in 19 countries. MTN is considering expanding its coverage through satellite connectivity.
Under this agreement, Omnispace will develop a next-generation, standards-based mobile and IoT network designed to serve the MTN market. In the meantime, the companies plan to collaborate on testing existing technology, demonstrating capabilities, and use cases using Omnispace’s orbiting satellites. The two companies will also explore cooperation in the device and software ecosystem.

This is a strategic step towards ensuring consistent and reliable access to our networks,” said MTN Group Chief Technology and Information Officer Mazen Mrue.
