Nothing Phone (2a) was announced this week. This is the company’s first attempt at a mid-ranger. There hasn’t been a stylish, cost-effective brand since its inception, and that’s clear when you look at (2a).
This €330 mid-ranger has a large 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display (10-bit color) with FHD+ resolution with Gorilla Glass 5 (and IP54 dust and water resistance). It features a 50+50MP rear camera and 32MP front camera setup very similar to the more premium Phone (2).
Inside is a large 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging (though there’s no wireless charging). The phone’s Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset outperforms the original phone’s 778G (1), if not as much as the chipset inside the phone (2). Adding 4 GB of RAM and doubling the storage only costs €50 more, so it’s well worth the upgrade. You can also receive calls using a free pair of CMF Buds Pro (worth 50 euros alone).
Currently, the 12/256GB Nothing Phone (2) costs 580 euros and the 512GB version costs 680 euros, significantly more expensive than the a model. This premium buys you some good things, including a faster Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. It also enables 4K @ 60fps video recording, and Dimensity tops out at 4K @ 30fps. Also, the 6.7-inch display is an LTPO panel (though the resolution is still FHD+). And 15W wireless charging is also possible.
A few weeks ago, we sold the Galaxy A25 at a slight discount (the price has gone up a bit since then). Now, his more affordable sibling, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, costs just under 200 euros (35 euros less than the MSRP). Powered by Dimensity 6100+, this phone has expandable storage and ships with Android 14 out of the box. Three OS updates and four years of security patches are provided.
The 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display is similar to the A25, but runs at 90Hz instead of 120Hz. The ultra-wide camera also has a 5MP sensor (down from 8MP), but the 50MP main and 13MP selfies are the same. So is the 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired-only charging.
Since the Realme 12 Pro is already official, the Realme 11 Pro has been reduced in price, making it about 50 euros more expensive than the Galaxy A15 5G. It has a 6.7-inch OLED display, which is a 120Hz 10-bit panel (resolution is also FHD +). The main camera has a 100MP sensor (with OIS) but no ultra-wide sensor. Unlike the Galaxy, this model does not have a microSD slot or his 3.5 mm headphone jack. 67W fast charging is available for the 5,000mAh battery.
There is also Realme 12 Pro+ in 12/512GB configuration. It has the same Dimensity 7050 chipset and 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display as the regular Pro, but it’s upgraded to a 200MP main camera (with OIS) and also features an 8MP ultrawide. Additionally, the selfie camera resolution has been doubled (32MP) and the 5,000mAh battery has been upgraded to 100W charging.
Returning to the sub-200 euro price range, the Moto G54 features a 6.5-inch 120Hz IPS LCD (FHD+ resolution) as an alternative to the Galaxy A15 5G’s 6.5-inch 90Hz OLED. His 50MP camera in this camera has OIS but no ultra-wide partner. The 5,000mAh battery is also slower with only 15W charging support.
