New Delhi: Delhi University has earmarked Rs 6,771 crore to install WiFi networks across all university campuses and girls’ hostels to be built in Mukherjee Nagar, northwest Delhi, according to an official document. According to the document, WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) connectivity will be installed across around 90 colleges in both the north and south campuses of Delhi University and the Dhaka hostel complex.
The execution capital for this project will be funded from the loan corpus of Rs 938.33 million that the university received from the Higher Education Finance Authority (HEFA) in October last year to undertake various development projects.
Loan share of Rs 261.33 million from this corpus was sanctioned by HEFA for installation of WiFi network and commencement of construction work of Faculty of Technology building.
HEFA is a joint venture between Canara Bank and the Ministry of Education that provides financial support for the creation of educational infrastructure and research facilities in India’s leading educational institutions.
Delhi University has applied for a HEFA loan in 2022 to meet its infrastructure needs and expansion plans, including projects such as setting up DU’s East Delhi campus in Surajmal Vihar and opening a new university in Najafgarh. Ta.
The agency has also approved proposals for five other projects to receive funding from the HEFA loan, with work expected to begin once funding is approved.
