In good news for Nokia smartphone owners, HMD employees have confirmed the Android 14 update for the Nokia XR20 5G. This makes the Nokia XR20 5G his second Nokia smartphone to receive the official Android 14 update. The Nokia G42 5G is the first to receive the Android 14 update.
No firm date has been announced for the rollout of Android 14 to the Nokia XR20 5G. However, the HMD product team confirmed that an update for smartphones is planned.
Recently, Nokia G605 5G and Nokia X30 5G with Android 14 appeared on Geekbench. Therefore, these may also be scheduled to receive updates. The Android 14 OS update brings new customization features, visual changes, camera/photo quality enhancements, and usability, security, and privacy improvements. Here are some of the major changes and features listed in the official Android 14 changelog.
With Android 14’s updated customization picker, you can now easily switch between wallpapers and update what you want to see at a glance. You can now set custom lock screen shortcuts for your QR reader, Google Home app, and more, giving you quick, one-tap access to commonly used controls directly from your Android lock screen.
Choose the fonts, widgets, colors, and formats that best match your style from a carefully selected set of new lock screen templates. These options use AI to adjust the screen depending on the situation. For example, if the weather suddenly turns bad, the weather widget on your lock screen will become more noticeable.
Android 14 also lets you show off your most creative and artistic self, no artistic skills required. First introduced on Pixel 8/8 Pro, Generated AI Wallpaper uses an AI-generated text-to-image diffusion model to help you create wallpapers that match your vision. Choose from preset suggestions and create wallpapers you’ve never seen before in just a few taps.
If you prefer a less colorful smartphone aesthetic that’s easier on the eyes, Android 14 includes a monochromatic theme that keeps minimal colors looking sleek and beautiful across your device.
Android also helps improve the quality of photos and cameras. Building on Android 13’s high dynamic range (HDR) video support, Android 14 supports HDR images with Ultra HDR. Ultra HDR brings out vibrant colors, brighter highlights, and darker shadows to make your photos look their best. Additionally, thanks to the excellent HDR screens available on many of today’s mobile phones, Ultra HDR allows you to take and display high-resolution photos without changing the quality of the original image.
Thank you for the tip, Lawrence. cheers! !
