Let’s talk about Semtech and their new AirLink XR60 5G router solution.
But first a little context.
Semtech, as many in the IoT field know it, is a provider of high-performance semiconductors, IoT systems, and cloud connectivity services. Now, XR60 specific news:
In short, it’s simple. Semtech’s AirLink XR60 5G router solution is designed to deliver 5G and Wi-Fi 6 performance in an ultra-compact and ultra-rugged design for diverse and demanding environments.
The XR60 builds on the already robust and ready AirLink Pro Series design and is designed to support 5G for industrial and utility customers (i.e. customers who do not/need to redesign existing equipment). Facilitate a smooth transition to. The XR60 supports fast and efficient local/WAN data transfer and, according to the official announcement, “embodies his Semtech commitment to longevity.”
Other technical advantages of the XR60 include:
- high performance: Equipped with 5G, Wi-Fi 6, 5Gbps Ethernet, and USB-C technology.
- Ultra compact design: This is ideal for space-constrained industrial environments and vehicular applications (e.g. to simplify deployment into equipment-filled public safety vehicles).
- Ultra-robust design: MIL-STD-810H grade shock and vibration resistance, extreme temperature and humidity operating range, intrinsic safety (C1D2), and power redundancy.
- promising: XR60 is a “new generation solution” with flexible software-defined routing capabilities and multi-band support.
- edge intelligence: Also includes industry standard container support for superior computing capabilities (i.e. currently in beta program).
- Long term support + remote management: This comes with 5 years of AirLink Complete available on all XR60 routers purchased and registered in 2024.

AirLink XR60 is now commercially available and certified by AT&T (currently also certified by other global networks).
