Ensuring that telecommunications networks are secure, resilient and innovation-focused requires global cooperation. That’s why the Government of Canada is working with our international partners to ensure Canadians continue to have access to secure and reliable communications services and the latest wireless technology.
Today, Francois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced that Canada joins the United States, Australia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Japan, South Korea, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Supports the Joint Statement of Principles on 6G, the next generation wireless technology. These common principles for research and development of 6G wireless communication systems support open, free, global, interoperable, reliable, resilient, and secure connectivity.
The Government is working with telecommunications companies and their partners to improve the reliability of Canada’s telecommunications networks and ensure Canadians have access to the latest wireless technology as the telecommunications industry develops 6G over the next few years.
