Telstra today announced that it will bring its world-leading 5G slicing product to market this year, enabled by a newly developed value-proving mobility analytics engine.

5G slicing will allow Telstra to create multiple virtual networks with different performance characteristics on the same physical network, allowing for solutions tailored to different customer needs.

The Proof-of-Value engine analyzes 5G slicing traffic every second to ensure that customers are delivering the performance promised. If you have, you will be charged for this performance, otherwise you will not be charged for the services you receive.

Shailin Sehgal, Telstra Executive Network Applications and Cloud, said: “This solves a key piece of the puzzle for deploying 5G slicing to enterprise customers across a variety of industries, providing specific speeds and availability as part of network slicing. It ensures transparency and accountability regarding time.”

“The breakthrough of this development is that we can commit to a minimum performance level for our customers, measure and report on slice performance, and confirm whether the slice is performing as designed.”

Telstra’s 5G slicing products not only deliver solid performance, but also use slice templates to tailor slices to customer use cases and specific performance requirements such as minimum and maximum speeds, security, and latency. Adjust it yourself.

“The ability to customize our 5G slicing technology makes it particularly useful for a wide range of use cases, from transportation network and construction site performance to public safety technologies such as video surveillance,” said Sehgal.

Hindmarsh, one of Australia’s leading construction, property development, retirement services and capital management companies, is the first customer to trial the new solution.

Mark Crameri, Hindmarsh IT Manager said: “Telstra’s new 5G fixed wireless network slicing link has been deployed to one of our most heavily used sites with over 30 staff, each staff member using a laptop and phone, as well as a tablet. and video conferencing equipment.

“So far, the new link has been extremely reliable, providing incredibly fast video conferencing and internet access, as well as access to business-critical systems, allowing for faster, more productive work in the field. It’s easy to do.”

To enhance network performance and ensure optimal configuration, Telstra collaborated with Casa Systems to deploy state-of-the-art Realtime Fastlane Accelerator (RFA) technology and dynamically route different types of traffic to different slices. We are developing the User Equipment Route Selection Policy (URSP) 5G standard, which is designed to Based on network templates.

For example, Telstra can create network templates for IP telephony applications supported by Casa Systems devices.

Steve Collins, SVP of Access Devices at Casa Systems, said: “Our dynamic network slicing capabilities enable mobile operators to improve their customers’ experience by offering customized service plans to meet their customers’ individual requirements. Masu.”

“Our 5G fixed wireless and industrial IoT products, including our Realtime Fastlane Accelerator dynamic network slicing capabilities, provide cost-effective 5G solutions with the customer in mind for most use cases. Offers.

Telstra also collaborated with Ericsson on solutions to operationalize network slicing, design experiences and deliver services to meet the needs of specific customer use cases.

Emilio Romeo, Ericsson’s head of Australia and New Zealand, said: “Ericsson is driving a differentiated service offering that enables monetization while delivering a superior customer experience. It’s integrated into the whole thing.”

“This breakthrough service offering, based on proof of value, is how Telstra combines their creativity with the foundational technology that Ericsson provides for observability and service assurance to deliver the best possible service to our customers. This is a great example of this.”

Telstra’s approach to 5G slicing will be on display inside Ericsson Hall at Mobile World Congress from Monday 26 February to Thursday 29 February 2024.
