Seoul: The South Korean giant announced on Tuesday that its research and development organization, Samsung Research America (SRA), has partnered with Princeton University in the United States to jointly develop next-generation 6G network technology.
According to Samsung Electronics, under this partnership, SRA will become a founding member of Princeton University’s NextG Initiative Corporate Affiliate Program and aim to lead the research and development of 6G technology.
The program was launched last year by the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and enhance innovation across a variety of areas, including cloud and edge networks, intelligence sensing, and network resiliency. Yonhap News reports.
SRA will join companies such as Ericsson, Intel, MediaTek, Nokia Bell Labs, Qualcomm Technologies and Vodafone in the Corporate Affiliate Program.
“We encourage Princeton researchers to continue to innovate and develop disruptive technologies that have the potential to bring major breakthroughs to 6G,” said SRA Senior Vice President Charlie Chan, according to a Samsung Electronics statement. ” he said.
The move comes as Samsung Electronics, a global leader in the global smartphone and memory chip market, is actively focusing on developing next-generation communication technologies.
It established the Advanced Communications Research Center (ACRC) in 2019 and hosted the first Samsung 6G Forum in 2022.
