Galaxy A54 5G camera trio
Updated, February 9, 2024 (5:25 a.m. ET): We’ve updated this Samsung Galaxy A55 5G rumor hub with newly leaked renders.
Original author: Samsung’s flagship smartphone may grab the headlines, but it’s hard to go wrong with the brand’s more affordable Galaxy A54 5G. With its high-end design, solid everyday performance, great camera, and unbeatable upgrade pledge, this device is not just a very affordable Android phone, but a solid all-around choice. It is a product.
There are still a few weeks left until this phone’s successor launches, but that doesn’t stop us from wondering what’s in store for the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G.
Will Samsung Galaxy A55 5G arrive?
At this point, it’s virtually guaranteed. Not only do they have a ton of leaks, but they’re also on the TENAA list, which basically guarantees that a call is imminent. Although Samsung has yet to confirm the existence of the Galaxy A55 5G, it is virtually guaranteed that the successor to the Galaxy A54 5G will form the core of the brand’s 2024 mid-tier lineup.
It’s unclear whether the phone will be called the Galaxy A55 5G, but it seems unlikely that Samsung will tweak the branding of its successful mid-range brand. So we fully expect the Galaxy A55 5G to be the successor to Samsung’s 2023 Galaxy A54 5G.
When will the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G be released?
Robert Triggs / Android Authority
- Galaxy A52 5G launch: March 17, 2021
- Galaxy A53 5G launch: March 17, 2022
- Galaxy A54 5G launch: March 15, 2023
If we follow the latest release schedule for the series, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G release date is most likely mid-March 2024. This device is usually launched right after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S flagship, i.e. at the beginning of the year.
However, this was not always the case. Galaxy A51 5G was launched in April 2020 and A50 was launched in February 2019. Samsung has been more consistent in recent years, and this series has become an increasingly important part of Samsung’s release schedule, so we won’t see a resurgence. Due to unpredictable startup windows. Galaxy A55 5G is expected to be launched in early 2024.
What specs and features does Samsung Galaxy A55 5G have?
First, the salient takeaway from our review of the Galaxy A54 5G is how similar this phone is to Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones. The new design is likely to be part of Samsung’s brand strategy going forward, so we’d be very surprised if the A55 changes things up again soon.
my smart price Posted a render of the Galaxy A55 5G apparently in December 2023. It certainly shows a similar look to the Galaxy A54, but there are some key changes. These CAD-based renderings can be seen below.
The most noticeable change here is what looks like a metal frame (with antenna wires) with flat edges. I hope this doesn’t result in your phone digging into your palm. There’s also an interesting bump on the button that we call “Key Island.” The buttons are located on a slightly raised platform on the side, something we didn’t see on the Galaxy S24 series.
On the hardware side, the series staples will definitely remain intact. His IP67 rating, 120Hz Super AMOLED display, and Wi-Fi 6 capabilities from the previous generation will almost certainly be carried over. The third image above seems to confirm the IP rating. Don’t forget, Samsung’s best-in-class update policy offers 4 years of Android version support and 5 years of security guarantee to keep your phone running until 2029.
Perhaps the biggest unknown is which processor the phone will use. One rumor has it using the Exynos 1480 chipset, which is believed to bring AMD graphics to the mid-tier for the first time. We’ll have to wait to see if these claims are true.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G cost?
Ryan Haynes / Android Authority
- Galaxy A52 5G price: $499 / £399 / €399
- Galaxy A53 5G price: $449 / £399 / €449
- Galaxy A54 5G price: $449 / £449 / €489
Samsung has consistently priced its phones cheaper in recent years, at least in the United States. However, prices in Europe and the UK have risen steadily over the past few generations, pushing the phone to the top of the mid-range market.
I would be surprised if the price of the Galaxy A55 5G skyrocketed next year. This is because cost performance is a big part of this mobile phone’s appeal. Nevertheless, price increases appear to be slow in the US, and Samsung may not be willing or able to protect its customers from price increases in the current situation. Still, the base model of this phone is expected to start at less than $500.
Should I wait for Samsung Galaxy A55 5G?
Ryan Haynes / Android Authority
Unless there are substantive rumors to work with, we can’t say for certain that there won’t be a killer feature worth waiting for. However, given Samsung’s historically slow pace of upgrades, those who need a phone today don’t need to delay. The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G ($449.99 at Samsung) is likely to offer most of the features of the A55 5G and is built to last for years.
Of course, Samsung is not the only player in the low-priced field. The Google Pixel 7a ($477 at Amazon), which launches in summer 2023, will cost a little more, but will feature Google’s better camera, a more powerful processor, and wireless charging capabilities. Those looking to fill in the gaps with some additional flagship features may find the Pixel 7a better suited to their needs than the Galaxy A54 5G.
The Apple iPhone SE (2022) ($429 at Amazon) is also often talked about by budget-minded people, but it’s an older model that shows its age. If you’re not in a rush to upgrade, it’s probably worth waiting to see what Samsung’s next model has in store. The Galaxy A55 could make another leap forward, especially if Apple’s lower-priced options aren’t upgraded this year.
Samsung Galaxy A55 5G: what we want to see
Galaxy A54 5G is good, but there’s still room for improvement in its formula. Here’s what we’re really hoping for from Samsung’s next mid-ranger, but there’s no guarantee any of the below will show up.
wireless charging
Rita El Khoury / Android Authority
The Galaxy A55 5G does a lot of things right and is better than its competitors in many ways, but the lack of wireless charging is one area that makes this phone feel outdated.
Admittedly, this is not a must-have feature, but we are becoming more and more accustomed to the convenience at this price. Apple’s affordable iPhone SE and Google’s Pixel 7a (pictured above) boast this feature and are in the exact same price range as Samsung’s models.
There is no good reason for Samsung to reduce this feature further. Especially when competitors have been offering wireless charging for years and the phones are likely to ship with plastic bodies.
Flagship-like build quality
Samsung’s latest mid-range is a master of disguise. It certainly looks like the part of a flagship phone, but it doesn’t feel all that premium when you hold it in your hand. The reason is that the body is still plastic. There are no fancy metal trims on the edges of the phone.
While you shouldn’t expect all the bells and whistles for a fraction of the cost, the better build makes the Galaxy A55 5G a solid bridge between Samsung’s flagship and affordable portfolio. The good news is that the leaked renders actually show a metal frame. I also wouldn’t mind if my current Gorilla Glass 5 protection gets upgraded to something like Gorilla Glass Victus.
But obviously design upgrades like this have to be balanced against the phone’s price, which needs to stay under $500.
Upgraded camera features

Galaxy A54 5G camera trio
If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable camera phone, Samsung’s Galaxy A54 5G is already a strong contender. But you still fall into the most common mid-range trap: unnecessary low-resolution macro lenses.
Judging by how long we’ve had the phone, the main and ultrawide cameras are already competitive, and while further upgrades would be welcome, we’re not asking for better hardware. However, the 5MP macro camera can be hit or miss. Sure, it’s better than his super cheap 2MP macro cameras you see elsewhere, but it’s not as useful as a telephoto lens for added zoom. After all, it’s just there to make up the numbers. Many users will quickly get bored with it.
Again, it’s not the cheapest upgrade, but using an older 2x or 3x zoom camera will greatly improve your phone’s photography utility, making the Galaxy A55 5G better than the competition. It will become a thing. Samsung has already wisely reduced the number of cameras in the series from four to three. All that’s left now is to refine what he can do with these three lenses.
