Survey reveals lack of awareness about broadband signal enhancement
London, UK – March 19, 2024. We all know that fast internet speeds are important to consumers, but they need a good connection to buy new devices, spend more time working from home, and provide multiple digital entertainment and smart services. The demand for WiFi connectivity is increasing as people become more dependent on it.
An online survey conducted by NETGEAR, a leading provider of award-winning connected products designed to simplify and improve people’s lives, found that just under half (49%) of consumers prioritize WiFi upgrades. answered that it improved coverage throughout the home.
56% said faster internet speeds for everyday use are a priority, while 42% want reliable WiFi performance even when online with multiple users, and just under a third (32%) wants seamless connectivity to all their smart devices and home networks with zero latency.
These findings reflect the pressure on consumers to find reliable WiFi that can support a wide range of digital-based activities in different parts of the home.
Multiple smart devices are used throughout the home
The wireless connectivity survey was commissioned by NETGEAR and conducted online by YouGov in February among 2,179 adults living in the UK. This clearly reflects the popularity of WiFi devices, with 89% of respondents with home broadband saying they have between 1 and 20 of them at home. These include smartphones, smart TVs, gaming consoles, laptops, security cameras, and smartwatches.
The importance of strong, stable WiFi (28% of respondents said it’s a priority for home office tasks) means the importance of innovative technologies like mesh WiFi for comprehensive coverage of every nook and cranny of your home. means that it is increasing. This is especially true for younger groups where perfect signals are essential. 38% of 18-34 year olds said they would be more likely to purchase mesh in 2024 if it could provide WiFi to all devices in the home.
Lack of awareness of the benefits of mesh WiFi
Mesh WiFi is designed to not only extend your WiFi coverage with the ability to maintain your own WiFi network, but also ensure reliability of your WiFi signal across multiple floors and multiple rooms. Mesh WiFi is a much more powerful solution than WiFi extenders or WiFi repeaters and will finally put an end to dead zones. But despite the obvious importance of fast, powerful, and pervasive WiFi that enables everything from HD streaming and serious gaming to working from home, research has found out about mesh WiFi. He was only 17% of the total subjects.
“Today’s consumers rely heavily on smart devices, with 25% planning to buy more this year. But most people have mediocre or poor Wi-Fi signal to every corner of their home. , they will no longer have access to the full functionality of these smart tools,” said Gary Newson, EMEA sales director at NETGEAR. “Most households in the UK are unaware that the broadband they have paid for is underutilized due to sub-standard equipment, thick internal walls or even the layout of their premises. You’ll soon be able to enjoy super-fast, secure, and reliable connectivity no matter where you are or on any device you use.”
The issue of enabling WiFi connectivity is set to become even more important with the advent of WiFi 7, a new powerful standard that offers 4x faster throughput and 2x more available bandwidth than the previous WiFi 6E version . This means it can support multiple devices at the same time, giving the consumer a complete experience with smart devices, from connected doorbells and heating systems to his Tesla car and his Apple Vision Pro spatial computer.
